Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has shared his perspective on recent leadership changes within the Orange Democratic Movement, following his removal from the position of Deputy Party Leader.

He confirmed that he will not seek legal redress, choosing instead to remain active within the party’s political space.

Osotsi described the National Delegates Convention where the changes were made as having procedural shortcomings. He stated that some aspects of the process did not align with the party’s established rules.

While he did not provide detailed evidence in his statement, he emphasized the importance of adherence to constitutional guidelines in party decision-making.

The senator explained that stepping away from formal leadership responsibilities allows him to focus more on engaging with supporters and advocating for accountability.

He believes that political influence is not limited to titles and that meaningful contributions can be made through active participation at different levels.

He also referenced earlier developments involving Edwin Sifuna, noting that he had declined to take over the Secretary General role after Sifuna’s removal.

According to Osotsi, this decision was based on his principles, as he did not believe the circumstances surrounding the change were justified.

Osotsi further alleged that there were coordinated efforts to shape the outcome of the convention. He suggested that some individuals may have influenced delegates through organized meetings, though these claims have not been independently confirmed.

Additionally, he raised concerns about the disruption of a separate meeting associated with a faction of the party. He described the incident as an example of the challenges facing internal political organization.

The changes within ODM come during a period of transition following the death of Raila Odinga. The party is currently navigating questions about leadership and direction, with different groups expressing varying views.

As discussions continue, Osotsi’s approach reflects a focus on internal engagement rather than confrontation. His next steps may shape how debates about governance and unity within the party develop in the near future.
