RIP; Long-Serving MP Dies While Receiving Treatment at Nairobi Hospital; Cause Of Death Revealed

March 29, 2026 The National Assembly is in mourning following the death of Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away early Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula officially notified Parliament of the untimely demise, stating that the three term lawmaker died at approximately 1:20 AM.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Member for Ol Kalou, the Late Hon. David Njuguna Kiaraho, CBS, MP,” Wetang’ula announced.

Hon. Kiaraho was first elected to the National Assembly during the 2013 General Elections.

Until his death, he served with diligence on two key committees the Departmental Committee on Transport & Infrastructure and the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

Born on October 2, 1963, the late MP was an alumnus of Alliance High School and the University of Nairobi, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.

Before entering politics, he built a professional career as Principal Architect at Archgrid Systems, specializing in infrastructure and built environment projects.

Speaker Wetang’ula conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late legislator.

To coordinate a befitting send off, the Speaker has appointed a Funeral Preparation Committee led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, assisted by Nyandarua MP Faith Gitau and seven other members.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Wetang’ula concluded.
