Former Nyatike MP Edick Omondi Anyanga has secured another term as the board chairperson of the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority following an appointment by President William Ruto in the latest changes.

In a gazette notice, Dr Ruto handed Anyanga another term in office, which will see his stint at the state corporation run for another three years.

Anyanga was first appointed to the position in 2023 in the changes made by Dr Ruto to state corporations just months after assuming power.

A veteran in Migori County politics, at the height of his powers, Anyanga was a powerful figure around the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Anyanga was first elected to Parliament in 2007 on an ODM party ticket. In 2013, he was reelected for a second straight term. But his bid for another term backfired in 2017 when he lost to veteran trade unionist Tom Odege during the ODM party nominations. Since then, he has never recovered.
