President William Ruto on Monday confronted Funyula MP Oundo Mudenyo during a development rally in Busia County.
Speaking during a stopover at the Nangina Affordable Housing Project, the Head of State criticized Mudenyo for opposing his re-election bid and aligning himself with the Linda Mwananchi faction.
Ruto warned the legislator that he risks losing his seat in the 2027 General Election if he continues backing leaders associated with the “Wantam” slogan.
He further challenged the MP to reconsider his political stance and work with the government.
The President went on to ask residents whether they wanted their MP to abandon opposition politics, a move that was met with approval from the crowd.
“Huyu mbunge wenu anasema eti mimi ni Wantam, wewe tuheshimiane, wewe ndio utakua Wantam,” Ruto said.
This loosely translates to, " Your MP is calling me ‘Wantam’; let us respect each other - you are the one who will be ‘one term’.
The President is on his development rally on Western region accompanied by broad-based allies.
