Kenya’s former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched fresh accusations claiming the Orange Democratic Movement was hijacked before its leader Raila Odinga returned to the country.
He also alleged that President William Ruto while unwell telephoned an individual named Kiaraho and ordered him to come and remove Gachagua from his seat.
Speaking at a political rally Gachagua detailed what he termed a well orchestrated plot against him.
ODM was taken before Raila arrived in Kenya he stated implying that the opposition party’s internal processes were compromised prematurely.
The remark appeared aimed at undermining the growing political understanding between Ruto and Odinga, which many analysts believe led to Gachagua’s isolation.
The former deputy president then directed his attack at Ruto personally.
He recounted that the president suffering from an undisclosed illness placed a call to a person called Kiaraho.
According to Gachagua Ruto instructed Kiaraho to come and remove him from the seat.
The exact identity of Kiaraho remains unclear but Gachagua’s tone suggested the individual held significant political power or a role in state machinery.
These accusations come weeks after Gachagua was removed from office through an impeachment vote a process he has consistently described as a betrayal by Ruto.
He insists that the process was rigged against him from the start and he has repeatedly accused the president of orchestrating his downfall through a corrupt alliance with Odinga.
The former DP has vowed to fight the outcome alleging that his ouster was engineered by a coalition of the president and opposition figures.
While State House has not directly responded to these latest claims presidential allies have previously dismissed Gachagua’s outbursts as bitter lamentations.
But Gachagua shows no sign of backing down nevertheless the statements are likely to reignite political tensions as Gachagua continues to rally his Mt. Kenya base against the current administration.
