Senior Counsel Paul Muite has commended President William Ruto following the arrest of four senior officials, including Petroleum PS Mohamed Liban, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority DG Daniel Kiptoo, and Kenya Pipeline Company MD Joe Sang, over allegations of procuring substandard fuel.
According to reports, the three are said to have spent the night in police custody as a probe into how the fuel entered the country and whether due process was bypassed continues.
Their arrest has sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans who took to social media platforms to speak.
SC Paul Muite, who has been a critic of the current administration, commended the president, saying, "Hopefully, this is the beginning of things to come. Speedy trial and if found guilty, straight to Kamiti Maximum Prison."
Meanwhile, the President has said that his government is committed to fighting corruption and transforming Kenya into a first-world country, adding that he is not going to listen to naysayers.
The head of state also slammed the opposition for allegedly attacking the government instead of selling their agenda to Kenyans, stating that leaders will present their work to the citizens before being elected.
