The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has concluded that the reported disappearance of Hon. Raphael Tuju was a staged incident, dismissing claims of abduction and being trailed by unmarked vehicles. The update was released on April 3, 2026.
According to investigators, CCTV footage and witness statements outline a detailed timeline on the evening of March 21, 2026, that contradicts abduction claims.
The sequence shows Tuju’s vehicle leaving Entim Sidai Hotel en route to his residence before later being involved in a coordinated meetup.
The DCI said Hon. Tuju’s vehicle, registration KCL 346P, and a white Toyota Probox, KDN 673L, interacted in a manner suggesting prior planning. The Probox was driven by Samson Okiya Sirako, identified as one of four persons of interest.
CCTV timestamps indicate Tuju’s car parked on Miotoni Lane with hazard lights on, where three individuals were seen moving toward the Probox before it drove off.
Footage later captured the Probox returning toward Tuju’s residence, closing the loop on what the DCI calls a “carefully orchestrated operation.”
The Toyota Probox, owned by Mwanaidi Chemeli Saidi, has not been impounded and remains unaccounted for, the DCI said.
Other persons of interest named include Karen Wangare, whose phone was used during communications; Khadijah Chepkosia Saidi, who allegedly controlled the narrative; and Zipporah Wambui.
DCI sources said the evidence does not support claims of suspicious vehicles without number plates or that Tuju was under duress. Instead, investigators describe the episode as voluntary and premeditated.
Authorities have reiterated that efforts to issue diversionary statements will not derail the investigation. “The course of justice will not be hindered,” the DCI said, signaling continued pursuit of all involved.
The case, previously reported as a potential abduction, has now shifted to a matter of alleged deception and possible criminal collusion, raising questions about motives behind the incident.
Further updates will be issued as the investigation progresses and arrests are made.
