Ruto Warns Kalonzo and Gachagua for Threatening to Repossess Affordable Houses from Kenyans

President William Ruto has fired back at leaders from the united opposition, accusing them of misleading Kenyans and spreading fear over the Affordable Housing Programme.

The commander in chief warned that no Kenyan who has legally acquired a house under the initiative will lose it, saying the threats being issued by opposition figures are politically driven and reckless.

While addressing a gathering in Machakos, Ruto took direct aim at Broad-Based Government partner Raila Odinga’s ally Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who have been vocal critics of the housing plan.

The president dismissed their remarks as empty political talk meant to sabotage development projects meant to benefit ordinary citizens.

The president emphasized that the housing project is designed to uplift the lives of low- and middle-income earners, not to create political mileage.
He accused the opposition of taking advantage of the economic frustrations facing Kenyans to turn them against government policies that are already bearing fruit.

In recent weeks, opposition leaders have threatened to review or repossess houses built under Ruto’s signature programme if they win power in 2027, claiming the project lacks transparency.

Ruto, however, maintained that all beneficiaries went through a fair process and urged Kenyans not to be swayed by political propaganda.

The president further noted that while his administration is focused on creating jobs through construction and manufacturing, some leaders are busy sowing division and fear for their selfish political gain.

He reiterated that the housing agenda will continue to expand to all counties despite growing political resistance.

Political observers see Ruto’s remarks as a strong signal that the housing debate could become a key battleground ahead of 2027.

As the war of words intensifies, Kenyans are closely watching who will stand for development and who will stand in its way.
