Emotional scenes unfolded at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi on Saturday, December 13, as friends and family, lined up to view the body of former Lugari MP and Cabinet Minister Cyrus Jirongo.

The atmosphere was heavy with grief, reflecting the profound sense of loss felt across the political and social spectrum.

Mourners arrived from different parts of the country to pay their last respects to the late politician, whose sudden death in a road accident along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway in the Karai area of Naivasha had shocked the nation.

Jirongo’s vehicle collided head-on with a 45-seater passenger bus in the early hours, resulting in his untimely passing.

At the funeral home, supporters and relatives took turns approaching the casket, some kneeling or bowing their heads in solemn reflection.

Cyrus Jirongo, 64, was remembered not only for his role in politics as Lugari MP between 1997–2002 and 2007–2013 but also for his tenure as Minister for Rural Development under former President Daniel arap Moi.
