Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.
Jirongo lost his life in a fatal road accident along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru highway, leaving many in shock and mourning.
Speaking during a press briefing, MP Amisi emphasized the need for authorities to determine the exact cause of the crash and hold accountable any parties found negligent. "Road safety remains a critical issue in our country.
We owe it to the late Jirongo, his family, and the public to ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future," he stated.
Cyrus Jirongo, a well-known political figure in Western Kenya, had represented Lugari Constituency in Parliament for several terms and was widely recognized for his outspoken and often controversial political stance.
His sudden death has sparked widespread condolences from political leaders and members of the public across the nation.
The accident, which occurred on one of Kenya’s busiest highways, has reignited discussions on road safety standards and vehicle regulations.
Eyewitnesses reported that Jirongo’s vehicle suffered significant damage upon impact, raising questions about possible road hazards, vehicle speed, and adherence to traffic rules.
Amisi further urged the National Police Service and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to carry out a comprehensive review of the Nairobi-Nakuru route, highlighting the need for improved signage, speed control measures, and public awareness campaigns.
Families of accident victims and concerned citizens have welcomed the call for investigation, expressing hope that it will prevent similar incidents in the future.
The tragic death of Cyrus Jirongo serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that persist on Kenyan roads, prompting renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and enhanced safety protocols.
