On Saturday, as reported by one of the media houses, a well-known politician from the Kamba community dealt a major blow to former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

The politician publicly announced that he will not support Kalonzo in the 2027 elections, shocking many who expected him to back a leader from his own community.

However, while making the statement, the politician did not give any clear reason why he chose not to support Kalonzo in the next general elections.

This has left many Kenyans curious about his decision and wondering what could have influenced it.

According to a report shared by one of the reliable sources, Kenyans have been urging Johnson Muthama, the politician in question, to support Kalonzo Musyoka because they come from the same Kamba community.

Several leaders, including Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, MP Babu Owino had already declared their support for Kalonzo, which increased the pressure on Muthama.

However, he reminded them of his past political decisions, asking if they remembered Charity Ngilu, whom he supported in 1997, and pointed out that she was not from the Kamba community.

“I have always supported leaders based on their vision and capability, not just because they come from my tribe,” he said.

Muthama further explained that he is open to supporting any leader from any community if he believes in their leadership qualities.

“It is not a must to back those who come from the same tribe. Leadership should be about service to the people, not ethnicity,” he added.

His statement has sparked wide discussions among Kenyans who have mixed reactions about tribal politics and the upcoming elections.

On social media, reactions have been varied. Some Kenyans praised him for being independent and not blindly supporting leaders from his community.
