As 2025 ended President William Ruto closed the year by launching major projects across the country. The plans focused on roads housing clean rivers and modern cities.

Officials say the projects follow the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda. The aim is to grow jobs trade and long term development.

Despite criticism the government pushed ahead. Funding support came from the World Bank through the International Development Association.

Another key project is the Kenya Tanzania link road under the Lapsset corridor. President Ruto launched it in February 2025.

The road will connect Kenya Ethiopia and South Sudan. Leaders say it will cut transport costs and open trade routes in the region.

Work also continued on the Isiolo Modogashe road with plans for a second phase to Samatar. Construction began in May and is expected to end early 2026.

The full network received Ksh 81 billion in initial funding. The government views it as an election season highlight.

In November the president launched the Ksh 170 billion Rironi Mau Summit highway.

The road will be built using a public private partnership model. It will feature dual carriageways interchanges and smart traffic systems. Completion is expected by 2028.

Urban renewal was marked by the Nairobi River Regeneration Programme. The Ksh 50 billion plan targets cleaner rivers flood control and public spaces.

Sewer lines walkways and treatment plants will be expanded. Thousands of jobs are expected during construction.

Affordable housing remained a core promise of the administration. New estates were launched in Mukuru Kisumu Migori Machakos and Nairobi.

Thousands of units were handed over during the year. The programme targets low income earners in urban areas.

The Konza Technopolis Phase One infrastructure was also unveiled in October. The smart city includes intelligent roads power systems and data networks.

International partners from Europe Asia and America are involved. Leaders say Konza will anchor Kenyas digital economy.

Together these developments shaped public debate throughout the year. Supporters praised ambition scale and speed of delivery.

Critics questioned costs priorities and timelines. Still construction sites across regions signaled an active state.

With roads homes rivers and technology advancing the government projected confidence ahead of the next national contest during a politically charged period for Kenya and its future direction.
