Residents of Kieni Village in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, are reeling from a tragic incident in which a local businessman died after setting his car ablaze.
Witnesses said the man had locked himself inside the vehicle with his two children before igniting the fire. The children’s screams alerted neighbors, who rushed to help.
The children were rescued and suffered minor injuries, but the businessman could not be saved as the flames rapidly consumed the car, leaving his body badly burned.
Police and emergency teams arrived soon after, secured the scene, and transferred the remains to a mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The children were taken to hospital for treatment and counseling. Authorities have not yet determined the motive behind the incident and have launched investigations, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Members of the public have also been advised to seek emotional or psychological support when facing overwhelming challenges.
