Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Nyandarua Senator John Methu drew public attention on Sunday after asking the United States to probe President William Ruto’s government.

They claimed that alleged misconduct within the administration justified international investigation and went as far as suggesting that President Ruto could face arrest, likening the situation to developments involving Venezuela’s president.

The remarks circulated widely on social media and provoked sharp responses from both politicians and citizens.

In response on Monday, Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui dismissed the claims, accusing Gachagua of encouraging a foreign nation to interfere in Kenya’s internal matters.

Kinyanjui warned that such statements were dangerous and could weaken democracy, arguing that appealing to another country to act against Kenya’s leadership was unacceptable.

He further alleged that Gachagua’s remarks were influenced by personal motives, linking them to his impeachment while serving as deputy president.

According to Kinyanjui, such rhetoric risks creating instability and harming Kenya’s global standing, stressing that personal disputes should not be allowed to threaten national unity and peace.
