Siaya Senator Ruth Odinga has openly stated that she did not support the decision to remove Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from his party position.
Speaking candidly, she explained that while political parties make collective decisions, she personally felt that Sifuna deserved to remain in his role.
Ruth Odinga said she supports Sifuna in many of the positions he takes and appreciates his boldness in speaking out on national matters.
According to her, Sifuna has consistently expressed his views with confidence and has played an active role in shaping political debate.
She acknowledged that his style may sometimes spark strong reactions, but she believes open discussion is healthy in any democratic space.
However, she also pointed out that individual opinions do not always reflect the final position of a political party.
“What the party feels is a different thing,” she said, making it clear that party decisions are often guided by broader consultations and internal processes.
Even so, she emphasized that she was among those who opposed the move to remove him.
The senator stressed the importance of fairness and dialogue within party structures.
She noted that disagreements are normal in political organizations, especially when leaders hold strong and diverse opinions.
In her view, such differences should be managed through conversation and mutual understanding rather than drastic action.
Ruth Odinga further highlighted the need for unity as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.
She warned that internal divisions can weaken a party’s strength and confuse supporters.
Maintaining open communication, she added, is key to ensuring that members remain focused on shared goals.
Her remarks have drawn attention within political circles, as they reflect the ongoing debate over leadership and direction within the party.
