The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued its weather outlook for the next seven days, covering the period between February 10 and February 16.

According to the forecast, most parts of the country will experience sunny and dry conditions throughout the week. However, the weatherman cautioned that rainfall is expected in selected areas across five major regions.

Kenya Met said rainfall is likely to occur in parts of the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, Western Kenya and sections of the South-eastern Lowlands.

These rains are expected to be scattered and vary in intensity depending on location and time of day.

In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley, residents should prepare for morning rains over a few areas.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected during the first half of the week, increasing in coverage towards the end of the forecast period. Occasional night showers may also occur.

Northwestern Kenya, including Turkana and Samburu counties, will largely remain dry. These areas are expected to experience sunny intervals during the day, with partly cloudy skies at night.

In the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and surrounding counties, daytime sunshine is forecast to dominate.

However, there is a chance of isolated afternoon and night showers during the second half of the week.

North-eastern Kenya is projected to remain dry, with sunny conditions during the day and partly cloudy nights across counties such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo.

The South-eastern Lowlands will also experience mostly sunny weather. Nonetheless, parts of Kajiado County may receive morning rains and night showers later in the week.

Along the Coast, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights will be partly cloudy across Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and the Tana Delta.

Kenya Met further warned that daytime temperatures may rise above 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern Kenya, northwestern regions and the South-eastern Lowlands.

Meanwhile, nighttime temperatures could drop below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya and areas near Mt Kilimanjaro.

Kenyans have been advised to plan accordingly and stay updated on weather changes.
