DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua on Friday sent a Nakuru crowd into wild cheers after publicly apologizing during a campaign rally in Naivasha.
While addressing residents, Gachagua admitted that he personally campaigned for Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika in the 2022 elections but accused her of abandoning the people to align with President William Ruto’s administration.
He then sought forgiveness from the residents, saying “Naomba msamaha(I seek your forgiveness), a move that was met with loud cheers and applause from the crowd.
Gachagua also apologized for supporting and accompanying President William Ruto during the 2022 election campaigns in Nakuru County.
The former Deputy President urged locals to elect a new governor who is not affiliated with the ruling UDA party, claiming that the current leadership had failed to prioritize the needs of residents. He further accused the government of grabbing public land within the county.
Gachagua was accompanied by several opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i, and Martha Karua, as they intensified their political tour of the region.
The opposition team began their tour of Nakuru County at Maai Mahiu before proceeding to Nakuru Town, where they held a series of rallies to mobilize support ahead of future political contests.
