Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that the opposition wave is gaining momentum after sharing photos of massive crowds at a rally held in Mai Mahiu, an area widely considered President William Ruto’s political stronghold.
In a statement posted alongside the images, Kalonzo said the large turnout was a clear indication that Kenyans are ready for change. “Mai Mahiu, mmetokea kweli.
Clear message kutoka ground. Kenyans are ready and the tide has turned. Wantam is inevitable. Pamoja, tukomboe Kenya,” he wrote.
The rally brought together key figures in the emerging united opposition team, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Democratic Action Party–Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua.
The leaders addressed residents jointly, signaling a renewed push to consolidate support ahead of the next General Election.
Speaking at the event, Kalonzo thanked residents for turning up in large numbers, describing the crowd as evidence that the political landscape is shifting. He said the opposition’s message is focused on economic relief, accountability, and restoring public trust in leadership.
Rigathi Gachagua, who has recently intensified his political engagements across the country, urged unity among leaders who feel dissatisfied with the current administration.
Eugene Wamalwa and Fred Matiang’i echoed calls for what they termed a people-driven movement, while Martha Karua emphasized the need to safeguard constitutionalism and the rule of law.
Mai Mahiu, located in Nakuru County, has in the past delivered strong support for President Ruto. However, the opposition leaders insisted that the reception they received shows that political loyalties are changing.
The rally marks the beginning of what the team says will be a series of countrywide tours aimed at mobilizing support under a united front as they push their “Wantam” slogan and call for national transformation.
