Pastor Charles Wachira of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministry USA has resigned because Bishop Ben Kiengei decided to host President William Ruto at the church.

In a statement on February 22, 2026, Wachira said his resignation came from worries about leadership and recent events that have upset many members, mostly the young ones.

He mentioned that some Gen Z members are not happy with the decision. They want fairness, responsibility, and clear morals at a difficult time for the country.

Wachira said the church should pay attention to people's pain and worries and should care during important national moments. He added that spiritual leaders should stand up for truth, defend what is right, and speak up for those who can't.

He believes that when leaders make choices that confuse or upset believers, it's important to take a clear and strong position. He said his resignation was based on his beliefs, not on defiance.

Wachira also said he would share more information later, hinting that his resignation might be part of a bigger statement about what's happening in the church and the country.

His departure happened as people discuss Bishop Kiengei’s plan to host President Ruto for the church’s third anniversary.

This visit has caused different reactions online, with some asking church leaders to use the chance to talk about problems that young people face, such as those who died during recent protests.

These events point to the link between faith, leadership, and national politics, raising new questions about the church's part in public life.
