Political temperatures are rising again after Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya openly challenged claims that the opposition cannot remove President William Ruto from power.

His bold remarks have ignited heated debate across social media, with supporters and critics clashing over the integrity of future elections and the country’s political direction.

In a viral clip shared, Natembeya is seen addressing supporters, saying there are claims that no matter what the opposition does, votes will allegedly be stolen and the President cannot be removed.

Aukot's post, viewed over 81,000 times, calculates Kenya's cost at KES 1.14 billion per km versus Burkina's KES 139 million, fueling accusations of corruption and inefficiency.

Burkina Faso's project, launched in December 2025 under President Ibrahim Traoré, emphasizes self-reliance, financed solely from state resources amid sanctions and insurgency.

Kenya's highway, officially launched by President Ruto in November 2025, spans 233km total, with Phase I (139km) costing USD 863 million.

It promises reduced travel times and economic boosts but draws criticism for escalating costs—from initial KES 160-190 billion to current estimates up to KES 290 billion—and 30-year tolls at KSh 8 per km, potentially KSh 1,400 end-to-end.

Social media reactions exploded, with users decrying "thieves in government" and calling for impeachments or inquiries. One reply lamented toll burdens, while others praised Burkina's model, urging Kenya to adopt patriotic leadership.

Critics defend Kenya's project citing terrain challenges and modern features, but the debate underscores public distrust in Ruto's administration amid economic strains.

As calls for transparency mount, analysts warn such disparities could erode investor confidence in African infrastructure.
