Embakasi North MP James Gakuya on Sunday was forced to intervene after a section of residents began leaving a political rally he was addressing in Embakasi.

Gakuya had just been handed the microphone after DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa addressed the crowd when rain started pouring, prompting some attendees to disperse.

Noticing the crowd leaving, the MP urged residents to remain calm and stay put despite the rain. “Watu watulie, wacha kutoroka mvua,” he appealed, asking them to brave the weather and continue listening to the leaders.

Despite his plea, a number of residents left the venue, while others stayed on to follow the speeches by the opposition leaders.

The rally was attended by United Opposition principals led by Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Jubilee presidential hopeful Fred Matiang'i, among other leaders.

During the rally, the leaders criticised President William Ruto’s administration over its policies and urged Kenyans to register as voters and back an opposition candidate in the next General Election.
