Political temperatures soared in Kisii County after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto during a rally in Bomachoge Chache Constituency.

Addressing an energized crowd, Gachagua dismissed claims that Ruto is uniquely qualified to lead the country. He questioned the notion that academic credentials alone make someone fit for the presidency, arguing that Kenya has other capable leaders who can steer the nation forward.

In a pointed remark, he suggested that even former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i would be equally competent to serve.

His sentiments ignited the crowd. Moments after his remarks, residents broke into chants of “Yote yawezekana bila Ruto,” repeatedly singing that everything is possible without the current Head of State. The chorus echoed across the venue, signaling growing political dissatisfaction in the region.

Gachagua went further to accuse the President of falling short on key promises made to Kenyans. He cited the high cost of living, unemployment among the youth, alleged cases of extrajudicial killings, and what he described as stalled efforts in the fight against corruption.

The rally marked the final leg of the opposition’s tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, ending on a charged note as locals voiced their frustrations in song and applause.
