Police in Nairobi have launched investigations after a hotel owner was reportedly abducted by armed men outside his business premises in the early hours of the morning in Pumwani.
The incident is said to have taken place at around 3:00 a.m. outside Paradise Hotel, which is located opposite Pumwani Hospital in the busy Pumwani area.
Witnesses revealed that the hotel owner, identified as Abdi Hakim, had just arrived at the hotel when the suspected kidnappers struck.
According to the hotel manager, Hakim had just driven into the hotel compound in his Toyota TX Prado when six armed men confronted him.
Reports indicate that the assailants forced him into their vehicle before speeding off to an unknown destination.
Moments after the incident, Hakim’s mobile phone was switched off, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The hotel manager told police that he initially delayed reporting the matter, hoping his employer would return safely. When Hakim failed to reappear, the case was formally reported to authorities.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) responded to the scene and have since launched investigations.
CCTV footage from the hotel and nearby buildings is being reviewed to trace the vehicle used in the suspected abduction.
Police say they have not yet established the motive behind the incident, and no arrests have been made so far. Business owners in the area expressed fear that such incidents could affect customer confidence and disrupt operations.
