Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has finally spoken out following his summons by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to report to its Western Region offices in Kakamega.

This summons comes in the wake of recent violence associated with the Linda Mwananchi rallies, where confrontations between opposing groups resulted in fatalities and injuries.

Babu, who participated in the rallies alongside ODM leaders, including Edwin Sifuna and James Orengo has resisted the actions taken by the detectives.

The agency reported that one individual, named George Olande Otobe, lost his life during the February rally in Kakamega after a confrontation escalated into mob violence.

This incident marked the second fatality connected to the Linda Mwananchi tour, following an earlier shooting in Kitengela.

In a letter dated March 17, 2026, addressed to the DCI Regional Director in Western Kenya, Babu questioned the rationale behind the summons and the decision to require his presence for questioning in Kakamega.

He contended that this action was designed to intimidate and politically target him, asserting that any legal proceedings should be conducted in Nairobi.
