Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has responded to President William Ruto, intensifying an already heated exchange of words between government and opposition leaders.

On his official X account on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Kalonzo rejected the president’s recent comments aimed at opposition figures.

He instead framed the opposition as a legitimate alternative government in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

“Mr. Ruto, let there be no misunderstanding, we are the United Alternative Government-in-Waiting, and Kenya operates as a constitutional democracy,” Kalonzo stated.

The former Vice President further cautioned that the Kenyan populace would ultimately render their verdict on the current administration during the elections.

Kalonzo’s statements are a direct response to President Ruto’s recent verbal assault on opposition leaders, which has sparked a flurry of strong reactions from various political factions.

This exchange has heightened political tensions within the country, with both parties exchanging accusations in public rallies.
