Chaos erupted on Saturday, March 14, in Bungoma County after suspected goons attacked a campaign command centre linked to Tim Wanyonyi.
According to reports, the incident occurred at the Eninga Command Centre in Makutano, Kanduyi Constituency.
Witnesses said a group of attackers stormed the facility, vandalised property, and injured some of the security personnel stationed at the site. Windows were shattered as the assailants threw stones and caused damage inside the premises.
Police officers responded to the scene shortly after the attack in an effort to restore order and secure the area.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident, with security agencies stating that efforts are underway to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
The command centre is associated with Wanyonyi, who has been active in political engagements as he positions himself ahead of the 2027 general election.
The attack has sparked concern among residents and political observers, especially given rising reports of political tensions and security incidents in parts of the country.
Local leaders condemned the violence, calling for restraint and urging political actors and supporters to maintain peace. They emphasized that disagreements should be handled through dialogue rather than confrontation or destruction of property.
No arrests had been announced at the time of reporting, and investigations remain ongoing.
The incident adds to a series of recent security concerns reported in different parts of Kenya, prompting renewed calls for strengthened law enforcement and peaceful political competition.
Authorities have assured the public that security measures are being reinforced to prevent further disturbances and to protect political offices, businesses, and residents in the affected areas.
