Borrowers who fail to repay loans from the Hustler Fund may soon find it harder to hide. The Chief Executive Officer of the fund has revealed a new strategy that will help trace individuals who take loans but fail to pay them back.

The Hustler Fund was introduced to support small traders, youth, and low-income earners by giving them quick access to affordable credit.

Many Kenyans have benefited from the initiative, using the money to grow businesses, pay bills, or meet urgent needs. However, the rising number of people who borrow and fail to repay has become a growing concern.

According to the CEO, the fund will now use advanced digital systems to follow the borrowing patterns of users. These systems will help identify individuals who repeatedly take loans without clearing previous balances.

The information collected will also help the fund understand the behaviour of borrowers and take appropriate steps to recover the money.

The new approach will involve closer cooperation with mobile service providers and financial platforms.

This partnership will make it easier to track phone numbers linked to unpaid loans. Borrowers who ignore repayment reminders may face restrictions when trying to access other digital financial services.

At the same time, the CEO emphasized that the goal is not to punish Kenyans but to encourage responsible borrowing. The fund depends on repayments so that more people can continue accessing the loans.

When borrowers return the money on time, the system remains strong and benefits a larger number of citizens.

Kenyans who use the Hustler Fund are therefore being urged to honour their repayment plans. Doing so will not only keep them in good standing but will also increase their chances of accessing larger loan amounts in the future.

With the new tracing strategy in place, defaulters may soon realise that avoiding repayment will no longer be easy.
