ODM party leader Oburu Oginga left many people smiling after he refused to read a prepared speech during a public event that was also attended by President William Ruto.

Instead of reading the speech that had been written for him, the long serving politician decided to speak in a very simple and free way from his heart.

When Oburu was given the microphone to address the people, he first greeted the leaders and the crowd that had gathered for the event.

He then held the paper that had his speech and looked at it for a short moment. After that, he decided to say something that surprised many people who were listening.

Oburu openly told the President that he does not like reading speeches that are written on paper. He explained that reading from a paper makes him feel uncomfortable. According to him, he prefers speaking freely and saying what he truly feels inside his heart.

“Your Excellency, I’m not comfortable reading speeches, so I will leave this one for the President. I have already spoken from my heart,” Oburu said while holding the speech paper in his hand.

His words quickly caused laughter among many people who were sitting in the audience. Some leaders also smiled because the moment became light and relaxed. It was clear that Oburu was being honest and natural in the way he spoke.

Oburu, who is the elder brother of Raila Odinga, is known by many Kenyans as a leader who likes to speak in a direct and simple way. Many times when he stands in public meetings, he prefers to talk freely instead of following long written speeches.

Some people who were present at the event said that Oburu’s short statement made the meeting feel more lively.

They said his honesty made the moment interesting because it showed that he was not trying to force himself to read something he was not comfortable with.

Even though he refused to read the speech, Oburu still shared a few simple words with the crowd. He spoke about the importance of leaders working together and focusing on the needs of ordinary citizens.

Soon after the event ended, many Kenyans started talking about the moment online. Some people praised Oburu for being honest and real, while others said the moment showed his relaxed style when speaking in public gatherings.
