In a candid revelation, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has opened up about the critical moment following the passing of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s younger brother, Oburu Odinga, often referred to as "Baba."

Nassir shared that the day of Baba's death, he was in South Africa, but his immediate response was to reach out to Gladys Wanga, the ODM party Chairperson, to discuss the looming crisis the party might face.

“The day Baba died, I was in South Africa. The first call I made was to Wanga. I sat down with her and told her that the party would go into disarray if we don’t have a leader,” Nassir revealed in an exclusive interview.

His words shed light on the gravity of the situation within ODM, especially in the face of such a significant loss.

According to Nassir, the emotional and political impact of Baba’s death left ODM in a vulnerable position, unsure of its next steps. Without clear leadership, the party was at risk of losing its unity and vision.

Nassir emphasized the importance of having a leader who could step in and restore order, rallying ODM’s members to continue its mission.

Gladys Wanga, who has been a stalwart in ODM's leadership, immediately took charge, recognizing the need for cohesion in such challenging times. Nassir's call highlighted the importance of swift leadership in a time of uncertainty, and Wanga’s response has been seen as crucial in keeping ODM afloat.

As the party moves forward, the alliance between Wanga and Nassir could be seen as a pivotal moment for ODM's future. With challenges ahead, ODM members are hopeful that this renewed leadership will guide them through turbulent political waters.
