Emurua Dikirr widow Naiyanoi Ng’eno announces her bid to continue her late Political tension is rising in Emurua Dikirr just a week after the burial of the late MP Johana Ng’eno. Ng’eno and five others died in a tragic helicopter crash in Nandi.

Three groups have already emerged seeking to claim the vacant seat. Among them is the widow of Ng’eno, Naiyanoi Ng’eno, who has been endorsed by the family to continue her late husband’s political work.

Naiyanoi, a lawyer, has kept a low profile in politics since marrying Ng’eno in 2018 at the age of 22. She expressed gratitude to the family and the people of Emurua Dikirr for supporting her
She promised to continue her husband’s vision and requested residents to participate in a peaceful by-election.

Some members of the Kapkoan clan, where Ng’eno’s family comes from, have endorsed Bernard Rono, a county government employee, as their preferred candidate. Meanwhile, Bw Keter, who had lost twice to Ng’eno in past elections, remains a contender.

During the late MP’s funeral, his mother Mary Temas asked President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to allow the family to nominate a successor from within. Naiyanoi’s announcement appears to reflect this family decision, aiming to prevent internal divisions.

David Ngetich, a member of the Kapkoan clan, urged voters to allow Naiyanoi to complete her late husband’s term before any further political decisions. He emphasized the need for unity and peace in the constituency.

Emurua Dikirr has 44,477 registered voters according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. The area includes Ilkerin, Mogondo, Kapsasian, and Ololmasani wards, predominantly inhabited by the Kipsigis community.

Political analysts suggest that the coming by-election will be closely watched, as it could set a precedent for family members stepping into politics after the sudden death of an elected official.

Naiyanoi’s entry is expected to rally sympathy votes and consolidate support from Ng’eno’s followers. Observers note that her legal background and previous low political profile may appeal to voters seeking continuity and stability in the constituency.

As campaigns begin, the focus will be on maintaining peace and ensuring that all candidates adhere to electoral rules. The by-election promises to be a heated contest, drawing attention from both local and national political circles.

Residents of Emurua Dikirr are preparing for what many expect to be a tense but decisive election that could define the political landscape of the area for years to come.
