Governor James Orengo on Wednesday, March 25, visited former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju at Karen Hospital, where the former Rarieda MP is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a sudden health deterioration.
Taking to social media, Governor Orengo described Tuju as a man of “fortitude and endurance” and urged him to remain strong. “I say, keep fighting.
We shall overcome,” he posted, sending a message of encouragement to his friend, political colleague.
Tuju’s ICU admission comes amid a series of tense events earlier in the day, when he was scheduled to appear before the Kibera Law Courts over allegations of providing false information to authorities.
Reports suggest that the former CS had gone into hiding, citing concerns about unknown individuals allegedly following him.
However, before the arraignment could proceed, Tuju’s health reportedly worsened, prompting an urgent transfer to Karen Hospital.
Family members and legal representatives have stated that the arrest and treatment process may have worsened an existing back injury, adding to his challenges.
Tuju has been recovering from significant injuries incurred in a car accident three years ago, which makes him especially susceptible to stress and physical demands.
Governor Orengo’s visit emphasizes the unity among political allies and highlights the personal aspects of public service, showing how individual support can significantly impact individuals during tough times.
The evolving situation has prompted responses from political figures, including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who visited Tuju in the hospital.
Kalonzo voiced concerns about the way Tuju was treated, contending that the circumstances of his arrest raise troubling questions.
