In Eldoret, residents are watching closely as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) navigates internal challenges. One local resident said the party is going in the direction Raila Odinga wanted.

“Chama cha ODM kwenye inaelekea na jinsi tunapiganiwa na Sifuna ni vile Baba alikuwa anataka,” the resident said, praising how the party is sticking to its original values.

The comment comes as tensions grow within ODM. Edwin Sifuna’s team, including Nairobi MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo, has taken a clear stand to defend the interests of ordinary citizens.

Many people feel this group is committed to following the late Raila Odinga’s vision, even when facing pressure from other party factions.

Political observers say this shows a bigger challenge for ODM: balancing party unity with the needs of the people.

While some leaders are seen working closely with the current government, Sifuna’s team focuses on representing the voices of Kenyans at the grassroots level. This has created visible divisions within the party.

Residents in Eldoret and other counties say they want ODM to stay true to its original mission: putting citizens first. They see Sifuna, Owino, and Orengo as leaders who are willing to stand firm for the people, even if it causes disagreements within the party.
