A Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Tebesonik Ward in Kericho County has sparked debate online after writing an unusual message in a condolence book during a visit to Karen, Nairobi.
The MCA had joined other leaders and mourners at the residence of the late Johanna Ngeno to offer condolences to the family following his tragic death in a helicopter crash in Nandi County.
The crash, which occurred on February 28, 2026, claimed six lives and left the nation in shock.
However, it was the MCA’s message in the condolence book that caught the attention of many. Instead of the commonly used phrase “Rest in Peace,” the MCA reportedly wrote “Rest in Feast” and went on to fill an entire page with his message.
Photos of the condolence book quickly circulated on social media, attracting mixed reactions from Kenyans.
Some netizens found humor in the message, while others criticized it, saying leaders should be more careful when writing official messages, especially during serious moments such as mourning.
A section of social media users suggested the phrase could have been a simple mistake, possibly caused by confusion or poor spelling.
Others, however, questioned why the MCA used a full page for the short message.
