Birds have been spotted inside the State House in Nairobi, raising questions among staff and visitors about security and building maintenance.

Several staff members reported seeing pigeons and other small birds flying inside the corridors and offices. Some said the birds have been in the building for weeks, entering through open windows and gaps in the roof.

“It is unusual to see birds here. They are everywhere, in offices and hallways. Sometimes they leave droppings on the floor, and it can be messy,” said one staff member who requested anonymity.

The birds have caused concern because they can carry germs and damage documents or equipment. Some employees have also reported minor injuries from startled birds flying close to them.

The management of State House has assured the public that the situation is being handled. “We are aware of the birds inside the State House. Measures are being taken to safely remove them and prevent more from entering,” said a spokesperson.

Experts say birds often enter large buildings through small openings. They add that once inside, birds can be hard to remove, and it is important to handle the situation safely without harming the animals.

Visitors to the State House have also noticed the birds. Many took photos and shared them on social media, sparking a discussion about hygiene and building maintenance.

The incident has highlighted the need for regular inspection and repair of public buildings to prevent animals from getting in. Officials say the birds will be safely relocated, and new barriers will be put in place to stop them from coming back.
