Nairobi police are investigating the brutal killing of 43-year-old Florence Nyagah, a prominent businesswoman, whose body was discovered in her Kasarani apartment following an evening spent with her partner.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has named the suspect as Daniel Macharia Mburu, reportedly a police officer and Nyagah’s former partner.
Investigators say Nyagah had been with him at her Roysambu home the night before her death.
The heartbreaking discovery came on the morning of March 1 when her daughter, alarmed after repeated calls went unanswered, visited the apartment.
Nyagah, a stylist at Freddyz Salon in Platinum Plaza, had last spoken with her daughter via video call on February 28.
After failing to answer further calls, her daughter went to Faith's Apartments along Lumumba Drive and found her mother lifeless.
Authorities stated Nyagah suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest and forehead.
A knife missing its handle, believed to be the weapon used, was recovered under a kitchen table.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains at large.
Detectives leading the probe in Kasarani said that the reason for this killing is still unclear.
Officers are following several leads to trace the suspect.
Friends and neighbours describe Nyagah as a hard-working entrepreneur who had earned respect in Nairobi’s beauty sector.
Her sudden death has left the community in shock, with many demanding swift action against the suspect.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the ex-husband’s whereabouts to contact Kasarani Police Station as investigations continue into this tragic and violent incident.
