A heartbroken mother has shared her painful story after discovering that the daughter she believed was studying abroad had actually been secretly adopted and living in another country for years.

Juliana Tem revealed that she had not seen her daughter, Purity, for six years after her husband, Anthony Njau, allegedly told her that the girl had travelled to the United States to pursue her studies. According to Juliana, she trusted her husband’s word and waited patiently for her daughter’s return.

However, as the years passed, the promises that Purity would soon come home never materialised. Juliana said the situation became emotionally overwhelming as her husband continued reassuring her without providing clear answer.

Eventually, unable to bear the uncertainty any longer, she reported the matter to social welfare authorities and later to the police gender desk. Investigations later uncovered a shocking truth: Purity had never travelled to the United States.

Instead, authorities discovered that the child had been living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where she had been legally adopted by another woman. Even more surprising, the adoptive mother was reportedly Anthony Njau’s former employer at a pharmacy where he once worked.

Juliana said the woman knew her through her husband but still proceeded with the adoption process through legal channels. The child, who was only six years old when she was taken away, was reportedly given a new name—Judica—and now recognises the adoptive parent as her mother.

The devastated mother admitted that the experience has left her deeply depressed. After carrying and raising her daughter during her early years, she says it is painful that the child no longer recognises her as her biological mother.

Juliana is now appealing for justice and support to help her reconnect with her daughter, saying gaining access has been extremely difficult due to the legal adoption process.
