A sombre mood has gripped Chuka University following the shocking suicide of a second-year student who allegedly killed her lover two days earlier.
The student, identified as Claire, was pursuing a Bachelor of Education in Science and reportedly fled the scene after stabbing her lover, identified only as Kelvin, in the chest and neck.
Kelvin later died from his injuries, leaving the campus community in shock and mourning. Claire’s actions have left fellow students, lecturers, and friends stunned.
Reports indicate that after committing the act, she fled but later took her own life.
Before her death, Claire left behind two letters explaining the reasons behind her drastic actions, offering a glimpse into her troubled state of mind.
In one of the letters, Claire expressed deep love and gratitude to her parents, acknowledging her mistake and showing remorse for her actions.
She admitted to killing Kelvin and reflected on the consequences of her actions on both her family and his.
She also took time to recognize her siblings, offering words of encouragement to her mother to remain strong and continue raising the children despite the tragedy.
Claire’s letters also addressed Kelvin’s family, apologizing for the pain and loss she caused.
She acknowledged the suffering her actions have brought upon them and posed questions reflecting her guilt and confusion over the events that led to his death.
Her messages demonstrated a mix of remorse, grief, and the desire to explain the emotional turmoil that drove her to such an extreme act.
