George Natembeya, the Governor of Trans-Nzoia County, has raised concerns about the political situation in his county as early political activities ahead of the 2027 elections begin to take shape.

Speaking during a public gathering, the governor suggested that the political environment in Trans-Nzoia has become unusual.

According to him, several individuals are already preparing to contest for the governor seat, creating intense competition even before the official campaign period begins.

Natembeya pointed out that in many counties across Kenya, political competition for top county seats is usually between a small number of candidates. However, he claimed that in Trans-Nzoia the situation appears different, with several figures positioning themselves for the same seat.

The governor also hinted that some of the political activities taking place in the county appear to have support from powerful forces outside the region. He expressed concern that such involvement could influence local politics and affect fair competition among candidates.

His remarks have sparked political debate within the county. Supporters of the governor believe he is highlighting genuine concerns about political interference. They argue that local leadership positions should be decided by residents of the county without outside influence.
