Excited chants filled the air in Tharaka Nithi County after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua introduced Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to a crowd of energized United Opposition supporters during a political gathering in Mt Kenya East.

The event quickly turned electric the moment Gachagua invited Kalonzo to greet the residents. With the crowd already in high spirits, the former deputy president warmly welcomed his ally, telling supporters that a close friend was in their midst and deserved a moment to speak.

As soon as Kalonzo stepped forward, the atmosphere erupted. Supporters broke into loud chants of “Wiper! Wiper! Wiper!” as they cheered the former vice president, signaling strong excitement among locals attending the meeting.

The rally formed part of the opposition’s efforts to strengthen ties in the Mt Kenya region as political leaders begin laying early groundwork ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 General Election.

While addressing the crowd, Kalonzo called on residents of Mt Kenya to remain united with the broader opposition coalition. He stressed that solidarity among different regions would be key if the alliance hopes to succeed politically in the next national contest.

Speaking passionately to the crowd, Kalonzo urged Kenyans to stand together and move as one force. According to him, unity within the opposition would give them the strength needed to challenge their political rivals.

The lively reception in Tharaka Nithi highlighted the growing political activity in Mt Kenya East, a region increasingly becoming a battleground as leaders begin positioning themselves for the 2027 race.
