Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has publicly declared his strong support for controversial religious leader Prophet David Owuor, saying he is one of the prophet’s greatest followers and condemning Kenyans who have been criticizing him.

Speaking during a public address, the outspoken legislator said attacks directed at Prophet Owuor were unfair and motivated by fear of his growing influence across the country.

Babu argued that the prophet is facing resistance because of his ability to unite millions of Kenyans through his teachings and nationwide gatherings.

“I am one of the greatest followers of Prophet Owuor,” Babu said, insisting that the cleric’s message has touched many lives and brought people together beyond political, ethnic and social lines.

He dismissed critics as individuals who are uncomfortable with the prophet’s rising stature and impact.

According to the MP, Kenyans have a constitutional right to freedom of worship, and no one should be condemned for their religious beliefs.

He said Prophet Owuor should be allowed to carry out his spiritual mission without harassment, adding that constant criticism only fuels division and intolerance in society.

Babu further claimed that Prophet Owuor’s large followings and frequent national prayer events have demonstrated his ability to mobilize and unify people, something he said should be appreciated rather than attacked.

He accused critics of selectively targeting the prophet while ignoring other religious leaders with similar influence.

The legislator urged Prophet Owuor to remain focused and continue with what he described as a positive agenda for the country. He encouraged the prophet not to be distracted by online attacks, political pressure or public criticism.

Prophet Owuor, leader of the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, has over the years drawn massive crowds to his crusades while also attracting sharp criticism from sections of the public.

Babu Owino’s remarks are likely to reignite debate over the role of influential religious figures in Kenya’s social and public life.
