Former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka was forced to cut short his speech for a while as chants rents the air after what he was about the head of state and government president William Ruto in their effort to send Ruto home in the coming 2027 general elections in the country.

"Huyu Ruto Ni Wantam. Wangapi Wanasema Ruto ni Wantam. Ebu Nione Kwa Mikono Wenye Wanasema Ruto Ni Wantam?" He said.

"DJ Iko Iko Wapi Wimbo Ya Wantam?" The vocal politician said during his address at Heshima Bahati constituency in Nakuru.

According to documents seen by local media, the company alleges it had already invested heavily in equipment, staffing and preparations for high-profile state functions when it was informed that the contract would not proceed.

The firm now wants the court to compel State House to compensate it for losses, breach of contract and anticipated earnings.

The case comes at a time when government procurement and accountability have been under sharp public scrutiny.

In recent weeks, debates over transparency in state spending and contracting have dominated headlines, with civil society groups calling for stricter oversight of public tenders.

Legal experts say the case could set a significant precedent on how government transitions affect existing contracts. “If a contract was validly awarded, a change in administration should not automatically invalidate it without due process,” one Nairobi-based lawyer noted.

State House has yet to file its formal response, but government insiders indicate the contract in question may have been subject to review as part of a broader restructuring of suppliers following the change in administration.

The High Court is expected to issue directions on the case in the coming weeks. As the matter unfolds, it is likely to draw attention from both the business community and political observers, given the high financial stakes and its potential implications for future government contracts.
