Lawyer Willis Otieno has spoken very strong about what happened to Raphael Tuju when police held him at the police station. He said it is very wrong to keep anyone in a police station for long time because a police station is not a hospital.

He said police stations are only made for holding people for short time and not for looking after someone who is feeling weak, sick, or tired. He said that everyone has human rights and police must respect that.

Even if someone is famous or has power, the law must be followed and their health must be protected.Otieno said that Raphael Tuju is a normal human being like anyone else.

He said police cannot just ignore his health and keep him in small rooms with no proper facilities.

He said if someone is weak or feeling unwell, putting them in police cell is very dangerous. He said this is why we have rules in the law.

Police stations are not made to take care of sick people. If someone needs care, they must be taken to hospital and not left in police cell where nothing can help them.

The lawyer also said that the way Tuju’s detainment was done shows lack of planning. He said police must check first if a person is okay before they decide to hold them. He said security is important but safety and human life is more important.

He warned that if police ignore this, it can lead to serious problems. Otieno also said that public must understand that holding someone is not the same as treating someone. Police cannot mix these two.

He told authorities to make rules stronger so that anyone who is weak, sick, or needs help cannot be left in police station. He said there must be proper places for people who are unwell. He said that ignoring this can cause big trouble and even lawsuits against the police.

Finally, Willis Otieno said law is for everyone and must protect everyone equally. He said human dignity is very important. He reminded that Raphael Tuju must get proper care while he is held by any authority.

He said that police must follow rules, respect human rights, and remember that police station is not a hospital.
