Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader, disclosed the incident while appearing before the Kibra Law Courts on Tuesday, March 24, where he was representing Tuju as legal counsel.
According to Kalonzo, Tuju’s blood sugar levels dropped to a critical 1.9, a condition that could have become fatal within minutes if he had not received urgent medical attention.
“The sugar level was at 1.9. At one point, we were even told we might lose Tuju due to the very low sugar levels. We could have lost him within five minutes,” Kalonzo told the court, describing the tense moments that nearly turned tragic.
The revelation casts new light on what unfolded following Tuju’s arrest, shortly after he resurfaced from a disappearance that had gripped the nation and prompted fears of abduction.
While Tuju’s reappearance initially shifted public attention, the focus now turns to his health and how authorities managed the situation.
Kalonzo further claimed that despite Tuju showing visible signs of distress, police officers at the station were reluctant to allow him immediate access to medical care.
According to Kalonzo, the delay exposed Tuju to significant health risk during a critical period when swift intervention was necessary.
