Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has addressed claims by William Ruto alleging that he killed two girls after impregnating them, dismissing the accusations as baseless and unworthy of engagement.
Gachagua was speaking during a joint interview on Ramogi TV and Ramogi FM on Wednesday night, March 25, where he responded to a question from a Kisumu resident seeking his reaction to the allegations.
The former deputy president declined to directly engage with the claims, describing them as petty, childish, and lacking substance.
"I cannot respond to nonsense, pettiness and gossip. President Ruto has sunk too low, and he has become a gossiper," Gachagua said.
The DCP party leader maintained that the issues raised by the Head of State did not merit his attention, arguing that the country is currently grappling with far more serious challenges that require leadership focus.
Gachagua instead pointed to what he termed as pressing national concerns, including Kenya’s rising public debt, which he placed at KSh 14 trillion, and an ongoing fuel shortage crisis.
The ex-DP faulted the President for failing to address these matters, saying leadership should prioritize issues affecting citizens rather than engaging in what he characterized as gossip.
The remarks come in the wake of recent statements by President Ruto during his tour of Western Kenya and the Nyanza region, where he launched sharp attacks against Gachagua and other opposition figures.

During the tour, the President accused Gachagua of impregnating a university student before allegedly ending her life to conceal evidence.
The claims have since been echoed by some of the President’s allies, including National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
