Allies of President William Ruto have intensified their attacks on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with some now calling for his arrest over recent remarks directed at the Head of State.
Speaking during Eid al-Fitr celebrations held in different parts of the country on Friday, several leaders aligned to the President accused Gachagua of persistently attacking the government.
ODM Chair Gladys Wanga declared that she is ready to mobilize protests demanding Gachagua’s arrest, insisting that leaders must be held accountable for their statements.
She made the remarks during an event attended by President Ruto in Kisumu.
CS Aden Duale also weighed in, claiming that members of the opposition have been verbally attacking the President for over a year without facing consequences.
He insisted that Gachagua should respond to question over properties linked to his late brother Nderitu Gachagua.
CS Hassan Joho also questioned how the former Deputy President allegedly acquired properties in the Coast linked to his brother.
On his part, President Ruto maintained that he will not tolerate insults from political opponents.
He vowed to continue calling out what he considers inappropriate conduct among leaders, urging critics to adopt more respectful engagement.
